Feature 1 (highest priority): Dedicated “Release Action” on physical key release
The current Azeron software already allows different actions for Press, Hold / Long Press, Double Press, as well as configurable Release Behavior (toggle on second press or timeout).
What is missing is a dedicated action that is triggered explicitly when the physical key is released.
Proposed functionality:
- Add a “Release Action”, analogous to Press and Hold actions
- The action is triggered only when the physical key is released
- Works independently of the selected Release Behavior (toggle / timeout)
Examples:
- Press → send key A
Release → send key B - Press → start an action
Release → trigger a different action (state change, cleanup, stop) - Hold → action active
Release → explicit end trigger
Benefits:
- Clear separation between Press-State and Release-State
- Enables input logics that are currently not possible
- Completes the full action cycle: Press / Hold / Release
Feature 2: Macro support for Hold / Long Press (Press + Release + Delays)
Currently, even for Hold / Long Press, only a single key can be assigned — macros are not supported.
This prevents more complex input sequences, especially those involving overlapping key presses.
Proposed functionality:
- Add macro support for Hold / Long Press
- A macro consists of a sequence of:
- Key Press
- Key Release
- Delay / Cooldown between events
- Macros can be recorded (macro recording) or manually edited
Macro recording behavior:
- The software records:
- when a key is pressed
- when it is released
- the exact timing between all events
Example sequence:
- Press W
- Release W
- Press A
- Release A
- Press S (held)
- Press D
- Release D
- Release S
This allows correct reproduction of overlapping key presses.
Event-based delays:
- Delays are attached to each event, not global
- Delay is applied after the previous event, before the next one
- Enables precise control over how long keys are held and when follow-up actions occur
Feature 3: Looping Hold Action until release
As an extension of Feature 2, Hold Actions should support looping macros that run continuously until a release occurs.
Proposed functionality:
- Holding the key starts the macro
- The macro runs in a loop
- The loop ends only when the key is released
Especially useful with:
- Release Behavior: on second press
(first press sets a persistent internal press state, second press triggers the internal release)
Benefits:
- Continuous actions without timeouts or repeated key presses
- Precise start/stop control tied directly to the user’s physical input
- Can be combined with Release Action (Feature 1) for clean termination or state changes
Overall benefit
Together, these three features would turn Azeron’s input handling into a fully consistent Press / Hold / Release system, enabling advanced macros, cleaner state management, and significantly more flexible control schemes that are currently not achievable with the existing software.
